AI chat

AI chat lives in the browser extension's side panel. It reads the page you are on and can look up things in your workspace, so you can ask about what you are reading and what you have already collected without switching tabs.

Where​

Click the Collec icon in the Chrome toolbar (or press Ctrl+Shift+S) to open the side panel, then click 채팅 (Chat) in the right-side navigation rail. Chat is only available in the extension — the web app does not have a chat window.

At the top of the chat view, 대화 기록 (History, clock icon) shows past conversations and 새 대화 (New chat, plus icon) starts a fresh one.

How​

Ask about the current page​

The page you are on is included in every question automatically. A tab bar at the bottom of the chat view shows the current page title — close it with X (닫기) if you do not need it for a question.

Compare multiple tabs​

Click the Layers icon in the tab bar — tooltip 다른 탭도 함께 담기 (비교·요약) — to open a tab picker. Select up to three additional open tabs. The next question goes to the model with all selected pages included. A count badge shows how many extra tabs are loaded.

Quote selected text​

Select text on any web page and a small toolbar appears — click its AI button. The selected text appears as a chip in the chat input. Send your question — the quote stays attached to the message, so follow-up questions still know what you quoted.

Search your workspace​

Ask for something you saved — the assistant searches your collections by meaning and by title and shows matching items as result cards you can click to open. It only searches collections you have access to.

Ask the assistant to save the current page or a URL you mention. It saves into your default collection and tells you where it was saved. If you name a collection ("저장해줘, asdf 컬렉션에"), it saves there.

Rename a block​

Ask the assistant to rename something you saved. It finds the item by searching first, then renames it.

Save an answer as a note​

Every assistant reply has a 노트로 저장 (Save as note) button — a notebook-pen icon. Clicking it saves the answer together with your question and any quote as a note block in your workspace.

Regenerate the last answer​

The last assistant reply has a 다시 받기 (Regenerate) button — a circular-arrow icon. Clicking it reruns the same question and replaces the previous answer.

Usage guidance​

Ask how a Collec feature works, where a setting is, or how credits are used. The assistant reads this documentation and shows doc cards linking to the relevant pages.

Conversation history​

Click 대화 기록 (History) in the chat header. A list of past conversations appears — click one to resume it, or click the trash icon to delete it.

Limits​

  • Chat is only available in the Chrome extension. There is no chat in the web app.
  • Each question uses workspace credits in proportion to actual usage — see Credits. For now there is also a cap of 50 messages per day per account.
  • Only the page you have open and items in your workspace are available. The assistant does not browse the web on its own.
  • Search, save, and rename work only with a workspace selected. Usage guidance works without one.

Not available yet​

  • Batch operations such as reorganizing a whole collection, saving many links at once, or generating a report from a folder. For those, connect Collec to an external AI assistant with the MCP connector — the assistant will point you there when a request is too large for chat.
  • Chat in the web app.
